Chamber Music@Beall: Chuang-Levin Duo

Chuang-LevinSun, Feb 14 at 3:00 pm
Beall Concert Hall - UO campus

The husband and wife virtuoso-team of Ya-Fei Chuang and Robert Levin astound and delight audiences with their individual mastery and, as a duo, with the sensitivity of their musical dialogues. Chuang first performed on television in her native Taiwan at the age of eight. Levin is renowned for his ability to improvise and embellish cadenzas in the style of Mozart and Beethoven. As soloists, they regularly appear in the world’s great concert halls. Here, the duo present a chamber music Valentine’s Day gift, ranging from a Mozart fragment that Levin himself completed, to Schumann variations honoring the composer’s 150th anniversary year, to Brahms’s Variations, an ever-changing and ultimately triumphant tribute to Haydn.

“Deft, fearless, and awesomely accurate soloists.”—Boston Globe

Mozart:  Larghetto and Allegro in E-flat (fragment, completed by Robert D. Levin)
Schumann:  Andante and Variations in B-flat, Op. 46
Poulenc:  Sonata
